Blue Families & VADF Present: Richmond Road Trip #2 for Abigail Spanberger
Join Arlington Blue Families and Virginia Democracy Forward as we help Abigail Spanberger make the final push to victory. Resisters of all ages are invited to caravan down to Richmond, VA for a weekend of canvassing and touristing in the hip capital of the Old Dominion. Abigail is a former CIA agent and mom who has a real shot at defeating David Brat and riding the Blue Wave into Congress. But she needs all of the help she can get, and most of her prospective voters are in the suburbs of Richmond. We're making this trip extra kid-friendly by encouraging folks to see some sights and sample from a burgeoning food scene. Best of all, gracious volunteers will provide us with free overnight housing. We're still hammering out details, but here is a proposed schedule (and of course you are welcome to join us for as much or as little of the weekend as you like): Saturday, October 13 7:30 am: meet at East Falls Church Metro for departure (though you are also welcome to meet us down in Richmond) 10:00: meet at Spanberger HQ (2307 N Parham Rd., Henrico VA). 10:00-1: Canvass one packet. (Campaign HQ has kiddie activities and may be able to provide babysitting if parents want to leave younger kids there while they canvass.) 1:00: meet for lunch near HQ Afternoon: people can either go into downtown Richmond to do touristy stuff (depending on weather, we recommend the one of several art museums, the science museum, the botanical garden, the Civil War museum, or biking and walking trails along the James River) or do another canvassing packet 6:30-ish: Group dinner. Location TBD. Everyone goes to their host houses for the night. Sunday, October 14 Breakfast on own 10:00: meet at Spanberger HQ. 10:00-1:00: Canvass one packet 1:00: meet for lunch near HQ Drive back to NoVa.
