Gaithersburg’s Arts on the Green presents “Escapes,” an exhibit featuring landscape and seascape imagery by Joanne Bleichner, Luc Fiedler, Pamela Hall, Jim Hoehn, Kesra Hoffman, Douglas Moulden, Connie Schlee, Russ Schofield, Roberta Staat, and Larry Witham. The exhibit will be on display from September 8 through October 23, 2017, at the Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion. The public is invited to meet the artists during a free Artists Reception on Thursday, September 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The reception will be held at both the Arts Barn and Kentlands Mansion.
The Japanese have a tradition called shinrigoku, which means “forest bath.” They believe that soaking in the green light from the trees that surround them in a forest walk refreshes their spirit and their health. This exhibit of landscape and seascape imagery is meant to have a similar effect on its viewers. Eight artists with unique ways of approaching “scape” painting were invited to participate in the exhibit. The exhibit also features sculpture by Luc Fiedler and ceramics by Pamela Hall, who both use natural materials and themes in their work. Refresh yourself as you observe and walk through the beautiful artwork that reflects Mother Nature’s glory.
