About the Film
If every African American church had a full-service health ministry would it eliminate the gaping health disparities and reduce the high prevalence of chronic health conditions in Black communities?
The Gospel of Healing Volume I: Black Churches Respond to HIV/AIDS explores this complex question through the lens of HIV/AIDS.
Rev Tony Lee
DC's own Rev Tony Lee from the Community of Hope is featured in the film where he talks about "Creating a Stigma-Free Environment"
From thegospelofhealing.com website:
Reverend Anthony ‘Tony’ Lee is the dynamic Pastor of Community of Hope A.M.E. Church located in Temple Hills, Maryland.
Community of Hope works in partnership with several local community-based organizations to conduct quarterly HIV testing events during it’s three Sunday worship services. Through the leadership of Pastor Tony Lee, and the work of the Community of Hope ministerial staff, this model of HIV testing during church services demonstrates how one church conducts “in-reach” not “out-reach” to create a stigma free testing environment.
