To Our Fellow DC Spartans:  We would like to cordially invite you to the 2018 Green and White Gala on Saturday, October 27th, 2018, which will take place at the prestigious National Press Club in Downtown Washington, DC. Festivities will include a cocktail hour, silent auction, dinner, and dancing while raising funds for the Betty Mitchell Colden Memorial Scholarship, which helps fund local DMV students’ endeavors at Michigan State University. Tickets will include an open bar with signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and seated dinner with a presentation of the club's annual Distinguished Alumni award. Attire is formal/black tie optional. The VIP Reception will begin at 5:30pm with General Admission to follow at 6:30pm. Dinner and the Award Presentation Ceremony will begin at 7:30pm. The Silent Auction will be open from 5:30pm - 10:00pm with winners announced shortly thereafter. Dancing will continue until 11:00pm. This year we are honoring  Mary Grealy,  BA ’71, Audiology and Speech Sciences – ComArtSci Board Member, president of the Healthcare Leadership Council, a coalition of chief executives of the nation’s leading health care companies and organizations. The HLC advocates consumer-centered health care reform, emphasizing the value of private sector innovation. It is the only health policy advocacy group that represents all sectors of the health care industry.  Mary has Extensive background in health care policy. She has led important initiatives on the uninsured, Medicare reform, improving patient safety and quality, protecting the privacy of patient medical information and reforming the medical liability laws. She testifies frequently before Congress and federal regulatory agencies.  Mary has been ranked many times by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare and was named to Modern Healthcare’s list of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare for 2009. Board member for TeamHealth and past member of the Board of Trustees at Duquesne University.  ******************************* The MSU Alumni Club of Metro Washington, DC (DC Spartans) seeks to provide a means by which a student(s) from Metropolitan Washington, DC has an opportunity to attend Michigan State University. It is our goal to help academically strong students who demonstrate both a desire to attend Michigan State as well as a need for financial assistance. In helping to promote our endowment(s), it is also our goal to promote Michigan State University. The Green and White Gala is the premier annual event for the MSU Alumni Club of Washington, DC. The Gala brings together alumni and friends from across the country for an evening of philanthropy and recognition of a local distinguished alumnus. Proceeds from the event go toward the Club’s Endowed Scholarships which enable students from the DC area to attend MSU. All net proceeds from the Green & White Gala benefit the Betty Mitchell Colden Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to students from the Metropolitan Washington, DC area.
